New Major Cycle Event for the Snowy Mountains

Exciting news for cyclists with a new major annual cycling event announced for the Snowy Mountains.

Laterall Events, owners of the hugely popular L’Étape Australia by Tour de France cycling event staged in the Snowy Mountains from 2016 to 2019 have developed the new series of annual events.

Called 'Drops & Hoods' (referring to the bike handlebars), the new style event will uniquely offer riders more than ten events over four days, on multiple surfaces, multi-cycle disciplines, and multiple distances in Australia and New Zealand.

Drops & Hoods – Snowy Mountains will take place from Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th March 2022 and the inaugural edition is set to feature some of the most famous elements of L’Étape Australia by Tour de France.

Being developed in consultation with local stakeholders, local businesses, and the local community, each edition of Drops & Hoods will encompass much of its host region, feature the best local roads as well as taking riders on some remote gravel routes in the wilderness. The event will also promote the night-time economy by working with pubs, clubs, restaurants, and resorts to provide entertainment each evening and entice riders to stay longer.

Drops & Hoods will inject economic activity into its host regions for the accommodation sector, restaurants, retail, tourism attractions, and direct event expenditure.
