Crackers Cup Raises Funds for Junior Golf

The inaugural Crackers Cup charity golf day organised by Harro’s Snowsports before winter has raised over $2000, the funds being donated to the Rob Kneller Youth Foundation to inspire local kids to try golf.

The par-3 Lake Crackenback Resort course was a mix of golfing abilities and the colours of impressive outfits, but golf was secondary for 40 participants, with fun as the main objective.

After nine holes of golf, an array of prizes and giveaways were presented, with Josh Crawford winning the day with a score of 33.

Mitch Harrison commented that it was a fun day and thanked colleague Aurora for all her hard work planning the entire event.

“It was fantastic for the first event to have so many keen players, some of whom were good golfers and others just novices,” said Mitch.

“All the players were very generous as well, and to raise over $2000 was very pleasing. If we can introduce new kids to the game of golf that may not otherwise have tried,  that’s great.”

The money will go towards free kids' golf clinics at Coolamatong Golf Club near Berridale during the January 2026 school holidays.

Scott Kneller said directing funds towards golf is a great fit for the Rob Kneller Youth Foundation, as golf is a lifelong sport and a family-oriented sport.

“I think it’s a fantastic initiative and very appreciative that Mitch reached out for the first annual Crackers Cup to raise money for the Rob Kneller Youth Foundation, and working collectively with everyone involved to pull together golf lessons for the local kids,” said Scott.

“To head out there and have a great day playing golf and then raise some funds for our local youth to play, that is a fantastic outcome. I think it is very fitting for the direction of the Foundation, and that is to reduce the financial hurdle of participation in sport.”

Harro’s Snowsports thanked prize sponsors Cocina Jindabyne, Ripit Grips, Big Dog Golf Co, and the collective group of Rob Kneller Youth Foundation, Snowy Mountains Magazine, and Coolamatong Golf Club for organising the kids' clinics.

Golfers enjoyed the Par-3 course at Lake Crackenback.

Free Kids Golf Clinics

Children from Jindabyne and Berridale schools aged 8-17 can register for an introductory golf clinic during the January 2026 school holidays.

The kids’ free golf clinics will be held between January 8-16, the exact dates to be confirmed.

Clinics would be 2-3 hours in duration, with each child attending two clinics over consecutive days. All equipment, including lunch and drinks, will be supplied. The clinics will be conducted by experienced golf coaches and single-figure handicap golfers from Coolamatong Golf Club.

Included in the clinic would be a free 12-month junior membership of the golf club.

Once expressions of interest are complete, a full itinerary with exact dates and times will be forwarded to parents.

The Rob Kneller Youth Foundation initiatives are targeted at Jindabyne students, but considering the proximity of the golf course, the clinics have been extended to Berridale students.

Children from Jindabyne and Berridale schools aged between 8-17 who are interested in the free golf clinics should have their parents send an initial expression of interest. Please include the age, gender and height of each child.

Information can be forwarded to the Coolamatong Golf Club.

To sign up kids for the clinics, email the golf club before the closing date of Tuesday, 4 November 2025.
