THE Snowy 2.0 project is ramping up significantly this year with construction sites on numerous work fronts.
In March Snowy Mountains Magazine attended the unveiling of the Lady Eileen Hudson tunnel boring machine (TBM), the first of three TBM’s that will be excavating huge amounts of rock.

The Lobs Hole site and other work sites are not accessible to the public. Unlike the original; Snowy Scheme where the majority of the work of dam building and power stations was visible, the only portion of work you can see at present is at the Tantangara Dam, where you can see earthworks currently under way.
At Lobs Hole, there is a vast work site that stretches the length of this small valley.
The photo gallery consists of the tunnel boring machine, Lady Eileen Hudson, a selection of site shots from near the Main Access Tunnel Portal and other images taken from the vehicle.
During this visit, visitors attended a safety briefing at the top of the road before embarking on the 16km journey via a 4WD mini bus that transports workers up and down each day.
The vehicles travel in a convoy all day long, up and down, as in some sections there is only one way traffic.

Visitors are always welcome at the Cooma Discovery Centre, where there is a scale model of the tunnel boring machine on display, plus informative videos for viewing at the theatre.
