Community Feedback For New Jindabyne Education Campus

Following the success of the first community survey, the public is again being asked to have its say on the new Jindabyne Education Campus.

The Jindabyne Sport & Recreation precinct 1.3km south of town is set to be a vital education hub where it will house the relocated Jindabyne Central School, plus include a TAFE and University campus.

The venue will also become a driving force in our athlete development with Snow Australia growing their footprint at the site. This will include a state of the art world class air bag for training.

Member for Monaro John Barilaro said it is vital that the community continues to play a role in the delivery of the project.

“It is important that we deliver a new education campus that is specifically for Jindabyne and surrounds. This region is unique and this project must reflect that and cater to the needs of the community,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The key to any successful project is finding out what the community values.

“It was pleasing to see in the initial survey that the new education campus and its location at the Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre had overwhelming support from the community.

“This new survey will allow us to more accurately capture what matters most to the community, and I encourage everyone to take part.”

Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said community consultation is a key component of the project.

“I’m looking forward to hearing what the community has to say as the project continues to progress,” Ms Mitchell said.

Currently there is a 23 page discussion paper worth reading prior to taking the survey that offers detail on the new 6-9 hectare school project.

The Request for Secretary Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) report was prepared by Mecone on behalf of the NSW Department of Education and released in March 2021.
