GUESTS at Charlotte Pass Snow Resort have a new lift to ride this winter, with the resort officially opening its new Guthries double chairlift in late July, marking a significant investment in the resort's terrain and guest experience.
The new lift replaces the Guthries Poma and will improve access to the Guthries terrain while offering skiers and snowboarders a smoother, more reliable uphill journey. Importantly, the new chairlift also allows the resort to open the Guthries terrain earlier in the season, even with limited snow cover, extending the window when guests can access this part of the mountain.

The official opening was marked with an event attended by the Hon Kristy McBain MP and the Hon Steve Whan MP, alongside Winter Olympian Valentino Guseli, who joined resort management and staff to celebrate the milestone.
Lucy Blyton-Gray, General Manager of Charlotte Pass, said the new chairlift had taken six years to plan and construct, and was delighted to see it now operational.
"The Guthries double chairlift is one of the most significant infrastructure investments we've made at Charlotte Pass in recent years. It's not just about improving the guest
experience on the mountain — it means we can open this terrain earlier in the season, even before we've had a full natural snow base, giving our guests more terrain for more of the season,” said Lucy Blyton-Gray.
“This resort has a long history, and investments like this are about making sure Charlotte Pass continues to thrive for generations of skiers and snowboarders to come."

The fixed-grip double chair was built and installed by Doppelmayr, based in Jindabyne. The new chair is 400 metres long, has a capacity of 1,200 people per hour, and travels at 2.5 metres per second. The chair accesses some great terrain, with groomed runs and extensive off-piste on either side, perfect for powder days. Riding the chair, you can easily peruse where to ski or ride, and you have a great view of the whole resort. Once at the top, there are options for a small hike if you want to ski the Guthries chutes or pause for a view of the Main Range.

Charlotte Pass has many attributes, including no lift lines, a cosy village atmosphere and the most stunning views. The Kosciuszko triple chair is the main lift from the village, serving most of the main runs and offering access to a vast off-piste area.
The resort is completely snowbound during winter, with visitors travelling via oversnow transport from the Perisher Valley Skitube Terminal. The journey is approximately 40 minutes, with shuttles scheduled every 30 minutes during peak periods.

There are several commercial hotels and club lodges for overnight accommodation, or you can pre-book and purchase a Day Tripper ticket which includes oversnow transport and a lift ticket for the day.
