LEARNING to ski or snowboard has never been easier, and Thredbo make your introduction to the snow as seamless as possible with their new Learn To Ski Packages.

Thredbo’s beginner slope at Friday Flat offers the perfect gentle terrain where you can flourish, and first-timers can enjoy this dedicated beginner area and a 2-hour group lesson for adults and a 3-hour group lesson for kids.

Your first foray onto the snow is now very affordable, with adult pricing starting from just $99 and kids $129 for an afternoon shoulder season mid-week beginner lesson to get you started.

Arriving at the Friday Flat area, all your gear rental needs are also sorted with an equipment add on for this all-inclusive package of only $49.

Once you have all your gear, and afternoon lesson locked in, the 12-degree purpose built Friday Flat slope will be your home for the day. Starting on the flat area, your helpful instructor will have you gliding along in no time at all, and before you know it you will be riding the Easy Does It chairlift and linking your new stylish turns down the beginner slope.

Joining other like-minded skiers and snowboarders, the group lesson environment will see you make new friends, plus being able to feed off each other for encouragement.

For adults, the 2-hour lesson will have you at the point where you can then ride the chair and practice the new skills you have learnt on your own.

The best package is for an afternoon lesson, should you want to do a full day starting from the morning lesson, choose accordingly in the Thredbo shop.

Another few hours on the Friday Flat slope should see you cruising along, although with the occasional tumble. Which is all part of the learning process.

What You Need

As a beginner you don’t need to have all the gear. It’s easier to rent your skis, snowboard, boots, clothing and helmet to get started. You will need to purchase your own gloves and goggles.

If you are with a group or family, allow at least one hour to have everyone fitted for their boots, skis, snowboard and clothing.

Ensure when you are having boots fitted that they feel comfortable. This is one of the most important aspects and your boot attendant understands everyone has different shaped feet. If you need to try on a different pair, do so to compare.

Once you have all your gear arrive at least 15 minutes before your lesson time.
