Welcome Back Selwyn Snow Resort

SNOW enthusiasts will welcome the news that Selwyn Snow Resort will open in season 2023. With a brand-new toboggan park, ideal easy slopes for learning to ski and snowboard, plus a new stylish looking Selwyn Centre, guests will be eager to visit and see the improvements firsthand.

“It is very exciting! It’s been a long and tough three years for the Selwyn team but we are back better than ever and can’t wait to see guests at the resort,” said Selwyn Snow Resort general manager Lucy Blyton-Gray.

The resort has been totally rebuilt after the devastating bushfires of January 2020, plus the setback last year where they were set to reopen before falling short at the last hurdle.

The new design of the Selwyn Centre will streamline the process from arrival to venturing on the snow, with Blyton-Gray commenting with all facilities in one building, guests can access all resort services from the one hub. “Meaning you don’t need to head outside on a poor weather day to head to another building for lunch or to grab your rental gear.”

The resort has always been the perfect venue for families looking for a more affordable learning space, plus has been a nurturing ground and a key component of the snow industry in NSW. When news broke of the tragic news the resort was destroyed, the resort’s social media was inundated with messages of people relaying their fondest memories. Whether they learnt to ski, or recalling memorable times with their kids or families, it was encouraging to see how many people initially started their snow adventures at Selwyn.

In the rebuild, the resort has installed new sophisticated snowmaking equipment and have refurbished some lifts. With snow play in demand, the new toboggan park is a key feature, and the snow carpet will be a welcomed addition.

“Guests can expect a state-of-the-art toboggan park with the longest carpet in the southern hemisphere. Take a ride up the carpet and slide down on a toboggan, doesn’t get more fun than that.”

The new Selwyn Centre has expanded facilities including their ski and snowboard hire and an enhanced food and beverage offering.

Through the tough times for Selwyn there was emotion on many fronts, including staff, but when the first guests arrive in 2023 it will all turn to excitement. Communities in the surrounding towns are all very enthusiastic and looking forward to seeing the revamped resort.

“It’s been tough but we are extremely passionate about Selwyn and would never give up. We’ve been through hurdle after hurdle, but it will all be worth it on 10th June when we see smiling faces entering through the gates. It’s time to put the tough times behind us and move into a new Selwyn era,” said Blyton-Gray.

The resort said pre-season sales are looking great and they expect the resort to be buzzing with existing guests and new guests that have never been to Selwyn.

Selwyn opens for operations on June 23. Stay tuned to the Selwyn Snow Resort for details of the official opening ceremony.
