Bushpigs on a roll as they meet old foe

The Jindabyne Bushpigs are on a roll after winning their last few games, but they will be put to the test by old rivals the Cooma Red Devils in Jindabyne on Saturday.

In recent years they have had the wood on the Red Devils, but with retirements, players moving on, and this year having a younger less experienced squad, Cooma gave them a lesson in the first game of the season in Cooma.

That game is now in the rear vision mirror, and the Bushpigs are a much different side than they were in early April. The squad may still be the same, but they have gelled, found their rhythm and are playing far more superior rugby.

The benefit of knowing what each player does and how they operate under pressure is all coming together for the Jindabyne outfit.

Younger players Darcy Alexander and Harry Burbury have come on in leaps and bounds, and with Joe Quinlan finding direction around the park, and backed up by a big set of forwards, Saturday's game could be the game of the season if both teams bring their A-game and intensity.

In the Bushpigs last start they trounced Braidwood away 28-0, and their most recent home game against Yass they played a strong game to win 27-17.

The Cooma Red Devils sit in 4th place on the ladder with 25 points, the Bushpigs in 5th position on 15 points.

You can catch all the action at John Connors Oval at 2.30pm on Saturday, 31 June.

The game will be preceded by the Muss Piggies v Cooma.
