Cooma Showground is set to undergo further upgrades, thanks to the latest round of the NSW Government’s COVID-19 stimulus program.

Member for Monaro John Barilaro today announced an additional $9,340 for the extension of the cattle wash bay and the installation of LED floodlights at Cooma Showground.

“These upgrades are great news for Cooma and will ensure our annual show day remains one the best shows, if not the best, on the NSW agricultural show calendar,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The new flood lights and the extension to the cattle wash bay will not only improve accessibility and safety for all users, but also support future night events.

“Despite the show being cancelled this year, these upgrades will mean that the Cooma Show will return bigger and better in 2022.”

Minister for Water, Housing and Property Melinda Pavey said the COVID-19 stimulus program has now allocated a total of $55.77 million to 795 showground improvement projects across the state.

“We previously provided $35.77 million across the State to support 623 upgrade projects at 187 showgrounds which have so far supported over 1,490 jobs, providing work for tradespeople, suppliers and fabricators,” Mrs Pavey said.

“Now with the allocation of this further $20 million we will see a further 172 upgrade projects at 73 showgrounds to support more improvements and jobs.”

Today’s announcement follows the allocations of more than $1.014 million in funding in previous rounds of the program to Bombala, Bungendore, Braidwood, Cooma, Delegate and Nimmitabel showgrounds.
