Perisher has started the season in fine style with over 50cm of snow and more to arrive in coming days.
The Village Eight and other lifts were open in the Front Valley area during the long weekend, and now guests await the opening of more terrain.
Perisher Vice President and General Manager, Nathan Butterworth, said the resort will be working very hard to continue to expand terrain over the coming weeks.
“Pushing hard on the back of the wonderful snow that we've received to expand the offering and provide some diversity, and really tap into the very different personalities that the different resort areas of Perisher provide,” said Mr Butterworth when talking about the next steps and what terrain will open.
While people may think it's an instant and easy opening of more runs and lifts, this has never been the case. Staff have to groom and push snow to make everything safe, build loading and unloading areas on each of the chairs or T-bars before anymore lifts open.
Centre Valley and the quad chair to mid-station are expected to open on Friday, 13 June, and Smiggin Holes will open this coming weekend from Saturday, 14 June.
The new $26 million Mt Perisher 6 chair is expected to open on Saturday, 21 June.
Mr Butterworth said there is much work to be completed on the terrain on Legends (formerly Towers run), plus the resort needs to have all lifts and runs associated with access to the new chair, and egress back to Front Valley operational, before the Mt P 6 debuts.
