Help Jindabyne's Lake Light Sculpture – It’s future at stake NOW.

THE annual Lake Light Sculpture event held on the Lake Jindabyne foreshore at Easter is at a critical point in its life. The event needs help by way of volunteers to assist with organising the event. And it needs them now.

Over several years the committee group has dwindled and needs an influx of helpers. Can you be one of them….?

The Lake Light Sculpture (LLS) Committee are urging any new people with an interest in Jindabyne’s flagship event to attend the Annual General Meeting this Sunday and assist in any way they can.

The event is a huge drawcard for Easter visitation and has enormous economical benefit to not only the town of Jindabyne, but the region.

“We encourage AGM attendance and also provide those who may not currently be members, an opportunity to join at the meeting, and to possibly express interest in a LLS Management Committee role moving forward,” said an LLS spokesperson.

2023/4 Annual General Meeting Notice

Sunday April 28th from 4pm to 4.30pm

Downstairs Conference Room at Jindabyne Bowling Club

The second attempt to hold the Lake Light Sculpture Annual General Meeting (AGM) will occur Sunday April 28th – 4pm at the Jindabyne Bowling Club downstairs conference room.

This AGM will be followed by a general community meeting to reflect and discuss the best way forward for Lake Light Sculpture 2025 and beyond.

The committee urge both LLS members and any interested members of the general community to attend.

Given the challenges of the 2020 to 2023 Lake Light Sculpture operational years due to impact of the pandemic and high water in Lake Jindabyne, plus the cancelation of the 2024 event due to the foreshore not being up to standard for such an event, the Lake Light Sculpture is looking for a new lease of life, and new people to become involved.

As part of the AGM, all LLS Committee Member Positions will be declared vacant and open for nomination. Nominations are being called for five (5) office-bearing positions, plus three (3) ordinary committee positions, equalling eight (8) positions in total.

Nominations of candidates for election as office-bearers of LLS or as ordinary committee members:

  • Must be made in writing on the Nomination Form, signed by (at least) one LLS member and accompanied by the written consent of the candidate, and should be delivered to the LLS Public Officer-Secretary prior to, or at the AGM (Sunday 28th April), at which the election is to take place.
  • If anyone would like to nominate for a position, please contact Steve Cooper via email - sjcooper@snowy.net.au

PLEASE NOTE that it is the view of the LLS Management Committee that the incoming LLS Committee should lead a review of the LLS Constitution across a number of specific areas.

The current Constitution indicates an LLS Committee of 6 persons (3 office-bearers & 3 ordinary), however this has historically been up to 5 office-bearers & 3 ordinary. Such a review may include expanded role descriptors for proposed office-bearers, which could include, for example:

  • Marketing & Promotion / Website Management
  • Education & Community Engagement
  • Artistic Direction / Artist & Judge Engagement
  • Event Operations / Volunteer Management
  • Compliance / Legals – Insurance, DA’s, Security
  • Fundraising / Grants
  • Treasury
  • Secretarial

In addition to these roles, many extra hands are needed during the course of the year, and in particular prior to Easter to set up the event, run the event over the four days and pack down the event.

Following the AGM

LLS Member Meeting

4.30 to 5.15pm Downstairs Conference Room at Jindabyne Bowling Club

A general LLS Member Meeting will be held immediately after the AGM.

The purpose of the LLS Member Meeting is to informally canvas LLS Member views of the proposed 2024 to 2026 LLS Directions and provide input.

This will include some discussion on developing LLS Constitution changes.

It’s anticipated a 5.00 / 5.15pm finish of this meeting at the latest, with LLS Members invited to continue informal discussions upstairs in the Jindabyne Bowling Club.

It would be encouraging to see new faces attend either the AGM or the LLS meeting after the AGM. The event needs your help......
