THE Jindabyne Bushpigs will be looking for a vast improvement if they are to take out the 3rd grade South Coast/Monaro rugby grand final against Bungendore this coming weekend.
After a get out of jail performance against Hall last weekend, one where they started the second half in a precarious position and behind on the scoreboard 3-10, the Bushpigs will need to lift in all areas against the Bungendore Mudchooks, a team they have not beaten this year.
While they showed moments of brilliance and certainly did not lack effort, coughing up cheap possession and handling errors are what cost them dearly in the first half. With a huge home crowd showing support, the team rallied with four second half tries for a 31-22 win to cement their place in the grand final.
Nathan Cotton who scored a crucial try in the second half to keep the Bushpigs in the game said the first half wasn't going in their favour and they just pushed to get in that grind.
"We are here to play, and we stood up in that second half, and that's where we came into our play, we are a second half team, and that's where we came into our ball game. The place opened up and we kept coming through," said Nathan.
The club have been accustomed to success and have won several titles, claiming premierships in the Monaro 2nd Division competition in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. The Bungendore Mudchooks come into the grand final undefeated in 2022.
For supporters travelling to Bungendore, the game will commence at 2.30pm at Mick Sherd Oval.
